You don’t know me like that --
You assume that I’m insolent just because I’m black
You may see the way I behave and think that I don’t belong
But judge me and I’ll prove you wrong.
You look at me and only see the color of my skin,
But look beyond the contours of my face, and you’ll see within.
Just because I have tawny skin , it doesn’t make me a parsimonious person.If you just take the time to see, you’ll see I’m somewhat like you--
